Chiara Turechek

I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who provides medication management along with supportive therapy to complement treatment. While I am not a licensed therapist, I integrate therapeutic approaches into our work together and can refer you for more specialized or intensive therapy if needed. I offer in-person visits in both Poughkeepsie and Fishkill through Hudson Valley Counseling.

I have experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings, working with individuals managing anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and substance use concerns. Over time, my work has shifted toward women’s and maternal mental health, which I care deeply about — but you don’t have to fit into a specific box to work with me. A lot of people come to psychiatric care feeling like they’ve been treated for symptoms, but no one really took the time to understand the bigger picture. Maybe you were offered another medication without much space to talk about what you’re actually dealing with. I believe care should feel more personal than that.

I take a whole-person, collaborative approach. That means we look at what’s going on in your life, not just a checklist of symptoms. I use evidence-based psychiatric care and also think about lifestyle, stress, and other factors that can affect mental health. If needed, I’m happy to coordinate with other providers so your care feels connected instead of pieced together

The first session is mostly about getting to know you. We’ll talk about what’s been going on, what’s worked (or hasn’t), and what you’re hoping to get out of care. There’s no pressure to have everything figured out — we’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.
