Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Chioma Onuorah, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC). If you’re feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, mood changes, stress, or substance use, you’re not alone, and you don’t have to face it by yourself.

I provide compassionate, evidence-based care to children, adolescents, and adult’s, in a safe, supportive, and judgment-free environment where you can feel heard and respected. My goal is to understand your unique experiences, concerns, and goals so we can work together to create a treatment plan that fits your life.

I earned my Master of Science in Nursing from Walden University and am currently completing my Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP). I have experience caring for individuals in inpatient and outpatient psychiatric settings, including those experiencing anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, trauma-related disorders, substance use disorders, and other complex mental health conditions.

Whether you’re seeking medication management, psychotherapy, or both, I believe treatment should be collaborative and individualized. Together, we’ll focus on helping you feel better, regain stability, and build lasting emotional wellness.

My approach to therapy

My approach is warm, collaborative, and patient-centered. I believe the best treatment begins with listening carefully and understanding your story, not just your symptoms.

I combine evidence-based medication management with psychotherapy techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy when appropriate. Together, we’ll identify what’s contributing to your challenges, build practical coping skills, and develop a treatment plan tailored to your goals and lifestyle.

I value open communication and shared decision-making. You’ll always have the opportunity to ask questions, discuss treatment options, and participate actively in your care. My goal is not only to reduce symptoms but to help you improve your overall quality of life and feel confident managing your mental health.

What you can expect from me

Your first appointment is a chance for us to get to know one another in a relaxed, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment. We’ll discuss what brought you in, your current concerns, your medical and mental health history, previous treatments, and the goals you have for your care.

You’ll have plenty of time to ask questions and share what’s worked, and what hasn’t in the past. By the end of our session, you’ll have a clearer understanding of your symptoms, possible diagnoses if appropriate, and a personalized treatment plan that may include medication management, psychotherapy, lifestyle recommendations, or follow-up care.

My goal is for you to leave your first visit feeling heard, supported, and hopeful about the path ahead.
