Great to meet you!

I have been working in Higher Education in Massachusetts for 25 years, serving in a variety of roles before taking my current position as Assistant Vice President for Student Life at BSU.

I received my doctorate (Psy.D.) and certificate of advanced graduate study (CAGS) from the Massachusetts School for Professional Psychology, where I followed a clinical psychology track and an organizational psychology subspecialty. I completed my M.Ed. in mental health counseling and marriage and family therapy at Springfield College. My undergraduate degree was a B.S. in Psychology and Classical History from Union College.

My clinical interests and specialties include occupational and organizational psychology, marriage and family therapy, and issues related to depression, anxiety, OCD and habit change. I spent several years working in home based substance abuse treatment and family stabilization. I have also had significant experience with crisis intervention and response, particularly within higher education, and as a result I have worked with a great many first responders and healthcare providers.

My approach to therapy

I approach therapy from a relational psychodynamic lens, finding that the action for change comes patient centered understanding as much as it does from clinical technique. I often use a short term, solution focused treatment model to develop goals and start the process for change.

What you can expect from me

A first session is our opportunity to discuss the concern that brought you to treatment, explore some of the background that is necessary for my to start to understand the concern and set our treatment goals and desired outcome.

People often have so much to share in the first session, and hearing about what brought you to therapy is every bit as important as setting our goals and preferred style for interacting. We'll get to all of that within our first hour, though I usually meet with people again the very next week since the first hour goes quickly.
