Great to meet you!

I have thoroughly enjoyed my 35+ years as a licensed social worker, working in a variety of settings. I particularly enjoy my work as a psychotherapist with teens, adults, couples and families. I hold a B.S. in Social Work Degree from the University of Dayton and Masters degrees from The Catholic University of America (MSW) and Kent State University) (MPA). I have had significant professional training in Cognitive Behavior Therapy, ACOA/ACDF, Child Development, Home Study Assessment, Hoarding Disorder, Thought Disorders, Violence Risk Assessment, Anxiety Disorders, Mood Disorders, Forensic Monitoring, Personality Disorders and PTSD. I train First Responders in Crisis Intervention Teams. I enjoy my daytime work as a consultant and liaison to judges, attorneys and prosecutors on matters of behavioral health for criminal defendants.

My approach to therapy

I like to keep things casual and conversational. I like to get to know clients early in the process and especially their developmental and family history. It's often important to talk about trauma history when and if the client is comfortable enough to address that. I try very hard to go at the client's pace, not mine. I try to be encouraging and demonstrate effective communication (listening and speaking skills). I value feedback from my clients and try to make it easy to give honest feedback.

What you can expect from me

We will talk about your immediate concerns and I will need to ask quite a few questions so that I can formulate a provisional diagnosis. We will then develop a treatment plan and goals together. We should be able to identify some things that can be done to bring some relief and lessen the severity of symptoms.
