Great to meet you!

Hi, my name is Christian, and I have 12+ years of experience in behavioral health specializing in trauma and PTSD, anxiety, depression, substance use, and major life transitions.

I'm bilingual, providing therapy in English and Spanish. We can work entirely in the language you're most comfortable in, or move between both — whatever feels natural. My style is direct and relational. I'll be honest with you, I'll track what matters, and I'm not going to nod along for fifty minutes. I hold specialty certifications in trauma treatment, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and mindfulness-informed practice, and I've completed Acceptance and Commitment Therapy training under Dr. Richard Sears.

My approach to therapy

I work from an evidence-based foundation — Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and trauma-informed care — but I don't run a protocol at people. The approach gets shaped around you. In practice that usually means two things happening together: making room for what's painful, and building concrete skills so you can carry it. Insight alone doesn't get most people through the week. Neither does a worksheet. I pay close attention to pacing — going faster than your nervous system can handle isn't progress, and neither is circling the same ground for a year. If you've had therapy before that felt vague or aimless, this tends to feel different. We'll be clear about what we're working on and check whether it's actually moving. I bring mindfulness into the work where it helps, and I use metaphor and everyday examples to make clinical ideas usable outside the session.

What you can expect from me

The first session is mostly me getting to know you and you getting a feel for whether this fits. We'll talk about what brought you in, what's been going on recently, and some relevant history — but you're not expected to lay out your whole life in fifty minutes. You share what you're ready to share. I'll ask questions to understand the shape of things, and I'll be checking in about how the conversation itself is landing. Toward the end we'll talk about what you want out of this and roughly how we'd get there, so you leave with a sense of direction rather than just having told your story. You're also allowed to decide I'm not the right fit. If that's the case, I'd rather help you find someone who is than have you keep coming out of politeness.
