Great to meet you!

I’m Christie Fernandez, a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Texas. I have a Master’s in School Counseling and Licensed Professional Counseling from Sam Houston State University and a background in early childhood education from Stephen F. Austin State University.

I bring over a decade of experience supporting children, adolescents, and families. Before becoming a counselor, I spent eleven years teaching at the elementary level. Since then, I’ve worked as an elementary and high school counselor and as a Clinical Therapist in a psychiatric hospital, providing individual, group, and family therapy.

I’m committed to creating a supportive, collaborative, and client-centered space where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered.

My approach to therapy

I work with individuals and couples of all ages and have experience with play therapy, crisis counseling, grief, anxiety, depression, abuse, ADHD, interpersonal relationships, and life transitions. I welcome clients of all faiths and backgrounds and am comfortable discussing faith if it is important to you.

I believe that change happens when people are given the guidance they need to draw on their own strengths and realize their potential to live fulfilling, happy lives. I strive to provide a compassionate and supportive environment to help individuals and families overcome obstacles and move forward to thrive.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect their first session to feel welcoming, supportive, and collaborative. The initial appointment focuses on getting to know one another, discussing what brings the client to therapy, and identifying goals for counseling at a pace that feels comfortable. Christie works to create a safe, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, respected, and understood. Together, the session may include exploring current concerns, reviewing relevant history, and beginning to develop a plan tailored to the client’s needs. The goal of the first session is to help clients feel supported, hopeful, and confident that therapy can be a helpful and meaningful step forward.
