Great to meet you!

Dr. Joyner has been engaged in the provision of clinical counseling services for more than 15 years. She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Spelman College and both her Masters and PhD in Clinical Psychology from Washington University in St. Louis. Dr. Joyner has worked in numerous clinical settings including college counseling centers, the Department of Veterans Affairs, small community therapy clinics and an Anxiety Disorders Treatment Clinic.

Dr. Joyner's passion for mental health developed from personal experiences with family members dealing with varying levels of mental health symptoms during her formative years. Her curiosity and desire to help evolved into a career passion where her reward is helping others to live their healthiest lives.

My approach to therapy

Dr. Joyner's approach to therapy is client-focused and she always strives to meet clients where they happen to be at the moment in time when she enters their lives. She believes that each person is the expert in themselves and she works to help clients work towards living their lives in ways that align with their values and goals.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect to leave sessions with Dr. Joyner feeling heard, supported and empowered. While she leans towards a mostly supportive stance she will also offer gentle nudges when needed and permitted to help move things along in the desired direction. Clients can also expect psychoeducation where warranted to help them learn more about any mental health condition they may be experiencing.
