Great to meet you!

About Your Provider:

Christina Hooker, MS, PMHNP-BC:

Taking the first step toward mental health support can feel overwhelming, and finding a provider who truly listens is the most important part of that journey.

My practice is entirely virtual, designed to bring high-quality, specialized psychiatric care directly into the safety and comfort of your own home. Whether you are seeking support for yourself, a teenager, or an aging loved one, my goal is to make you feel comfortable, validated, and actively involved in your care from day one.

Areas of Focus and Strengths:

Lifespan Care with a Heart for Seniors: While I happily welcome and care for patients of all ages, I have a deep passion and extensive background in geriatric mental health. I understand the unique emotional and neurological challenges that come with aging.

Dementia & Family Support: Navigating cognitive decline is an incredibly emotional journey, not just for the individual but for the entire support system. I specialize in managing the behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia, while simultaneously offering a guiding, supportive hand to families and caregivers.

A Decade of Foundation: With more than 10 years of bedside and clinical nursing experience before earning my Master’s degree from Russell Sage College, I bring a wealth of practical medical knowledge and deep empathy to my advanced psychiatric practice.

Is My Practice a Good Fit for You?

If you are looking for a provider who values your perspective, prioritizes communication, and offers the ultimate convenience of telehealth without sacrificing the human connection, we will likely work beautifully together. I look forward to meeting you and helping you take the next step toward feeling better.

My approach to therapy

My Approach: You Are the Expert on You:

I don't believe in "one-size-fits-all" medicine. My clinical approach is deeply collaborative and symptom-focused. When we meet, you aren't just a diagnosis on a chart; you are the driver of your wellness journey.

We will look closely at the specific symptoms disrupting your daily life, and together, we will build a treatment plan based heavily on your input, goals, and comfort level. I blend evidence-based medication management with supportive therapy, ensuring that you always understand the why behind your treatment options.

My Clinical Style: Grounded, Warm, and Focused

Patients describe my style as warm, patient, and entirely non-judgmental. Having spent over a decade as a registered nurse prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, my clinical roots are firmly planted in holistic care. I look at the whole picture—your physical health, your environment, your lifestyle, and your stressors. In our virtual sessions, you will find a calm, attentive space where you are never rushed, and your voice is always the most important one in the room.

What you can expect from me

What to Expect During Our First Session

Your first session is all about connection, clarity, and comfort. Because we will be meeting via secure telehealth, you can join our session from the privacy and comfort of your own home—no stressful commutes or clinical waiting rooms. This initial visit is an unhurried, 60-minute space dedicated entirely to you.

Here is what we will accomplish together:

  • A Warm Welcome: We will start by ensuring our video connection is smooth and addressing any initial questions you might have about the virtual platform. My goal is to make you feel comfortable and at ease from the very beginning.
  • A Whole-Person Assessment: Drawing on my decade of experience as a registered nurse, I look at the complete picture of your health. We will discuss what is currently bringing you into care, the specific symptoms affecting your daily life, your medical and mental health history, and your lifestyle. (For my geriatric or dementia patients, this is also a wonderful time to discuss family dynamics and support systems).
  • Collaborative Planning: I firmly believe that you are the expert on your own life. We will look at your symptoms together, and I will actively seek your input to build a customized treatment plan. Whether that includes evidence-based medication management, supportive therapy, or lifestyle adjustments, you will have a vital say in every decision.
  • Clear Next Steps: You will leave our first session with a clear roadmap, a solid understanding of the "why" behind your care, and the relief of knowing you have a dedicated, compassionate partner on your journey to feeling better.
