Great to meet you!

Hi there! I'm Christina Lipscomb and I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker based in North Central WV and I work with clients statewide via telehealth. I work with adolescents and adults and I specialize in trauma, depression, anxiety, life transitions and stress, grief, and women's unique experiences. My approach is a person-centered, strengths-based combination of methods that are determined by what is best for each individual with whom I work. I provide EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) as well.

My approach to therapy

My approach is tailored to each person's needs, and often includes elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to address thought patterns, mindful awareness and somatic approaches to help people be more present and increase their mind-body awareness, solution-focused approaches to envision where a person wants to go in the therapy journey, and incorporates one's interests in art, nature, music, writing and more to help accomplish therapy and life goals. I work with clients to create a path forward that is specific and reasonable for each person. When I work with individuals who have experienced trauma, I include advanced trauma therapy techniques, including EMDR therapy, to help each person overcome these life events and heal in the best ways possible.

What you can expect from me

When meeting new clients, my first goals are building trust and rapport, getting to know them and what is important to them, and discussing and developing with them what they most want to get from therapy and achieve in life. Then together we will set therapy goals and adjust those as needed.

Our sessions will focus on helping you navigate life and the things that have shaped it in creative and personalized ways, and to help you develop the skills and strategies to improve how you feel and have a more hopeful outlook on life.

It is important to me to create an environment where people feel safe, comfortable, and are able to be themselves and be open about what is troubling them. I focus on providing a calm, supportive, and empathetic space and maintain a conversational approach to put others at ease. I listen to understand and without judgment, no matter what someone has been through or done. Laughter can also be a wonderful tool when appropriate and I love to help my clients find not only their voices, but find their joy again.
