Great to meet you!

Hello I’m Christine Lam, a licensed clinical counselor based in California. Although recently licensed, I draw more than five years of experience in mental health care.

I specialize in helping individuals better understand themselves, navigate life’s challenges, and create meaningful, lasting change. One phrase you’ll often hear me say in therapy is, “You are the expert on your own life.” By that, I mean that you bring the lived experiences, insights, and wisdom that come from being you. My role is not to tell you who you are or what you should do, but to serve as a collaborative guide - helping you make sense of your experiences, emotions, and patterns in a space free from judgment, expectations, or performance. My goal is to create an environment where you feel fully seen, understood, and welcomed exactly as you are.

My approach to therapy

I approach therapy with empathy, compassion and curiosity. I enjoy helping people deepen their self-understanding and cultivate compassion for all parts of themselves, focusing not only on symptom reduction but also on fostering greater self-awareness, resilience, and connection.

Drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Somatic Experiencing, Psychodynamic Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Existential Therapy, I tailor treatment to each individual’s unique needs and goals.

Different approaches serve different purposes: CBT and DBT can be especially helpful for anxiety, depression, and practical skill-building; IFS supports healing internal conflicts and strengthening self-leadership; ERP is a highly effective treatment for OCD and anxiety-related symptoms; and Existential Therapy can help illuminate questions of meaning, identity, and purpose, particularly during times of transition.

What you can expect from me

As the client, you determine which goals feel most important and relevant to your life. Together, we will develop a plan that aligns with your values, priorities, and vision for change.

You can expect to gain greater insight into your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while developing practical tools to manage stress, anxiety, and depression. Through our work together, you will strengthen your emotional regulation skills, increase self-awareness, and build confidence in setting and maintaining healthy boundaries. My goal is to equip you with effective strategies that you can apply in your daily life to navigate challenges more effectively, foster resilience, and create lasting personal growth.

Healing often begins when we stop fighting parts of ourselves and start understanding them. If you're ready to begin that work, I would be honored to support you in that process.
