Great to meet you!

Hello!

Welcome to my counseling service. I have 38 years working with adolescent and adults in many different settings. I have worked in public and private therapeutic schools as well as wilderness and day treatment programs. I received my Bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University and my Masters degree from Barry University. I have also had my own individual practice for over 12 years. Everyone has a story and mine is a unique one that allows me to connect easily to my clients in a way that the client feels understood and valued. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing and psychodynamics to assist the client in moving forward in their work.I enjoy working with individuals, family and couples.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is always to meet the client where they are at. I use many modalities to assist clients in getting what they need and looking for as well as challenging them to look openly and honestly at their past and how that may be influencing their current life space. I like to use humor to allow my clients relax and to not always take themselves so serious in order to assist in building a supportive and relational setting. I am also a clinician who will not settle for “I don’t know “ as that statement means you are hesitant to look and in order to be the best we can be we need to take a hard look at what is and what is needed and wanted. The important thing is that you do not have to do it alone and I will be at your side each session to assist.

What you can expect from me

On the first session it is important to identify the trouble areas and where and what the work is that needs to be done. Also it is important that you feel comfortable with me and believe that I am the therapist who can get your intended results accomplished. Understand that therapy is a process not an event that takes time and patience to achieve good results.
