Great to meet you!

Reaching out for help takes real courage, and I want that first step to feel manageable rather than daunting. I have spent 31 years working in mental health, primary care, and social services across Los Angeles, with people from just about every background this city holds: clients in behavioral health and integrated care settings, people coming out of homelessness, and families getting through genuinely hard seasons. Whatever brought you here, you will not have to explain yourself twice or justify why it matters. If you are ready to talk, I would be glad to meet you

My approach to therapy

I do not use one method for everyone, because no two people arrive with the same story. A lot of my work draws on cognitive behavioral therapy, which helps you catch the thought patterns quietly keeping a problem running, and on motivational interviewing, which is useful when part of you wants change and another part is not sure yet. For trauma and PTSD I use trauma focused CBT. When the roots run deeper we may work psychodynamically or look at attachment, meaning how your earliest relationships shaped what safety feels like to you now. I also lean on strength based and mindfulness work, because most people arrive carrying more capability than they are giving themselves credit for. Sessions are conversational. You set the pace, and I will tell you plainly what I am seeing.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is mostly me listening. I will ask what brought you in now, what you have already tried, and what you want to be different, and there is no wrong way to answer any of it. You do not need to have it organized or know the right clinical words. By the end we will name one or two things to focus on and agree on what a realistic next few weeks look like, so you leave with a direction instead of more questions. Most people tell me they feel lighter walking out than they expected to walking in.
