Great to meet you!

Hi there! My name is Chris Stone. I am a California Licensed Marriage and Family, earning my master's at Pepperdine University in 2010. I feel that it is helpful to utilizing training and experience along with empathy, compassion, and optimism to assist in identifying and working towards goals related to growth, and improvement in mental health. I would say I am quite comfortable with a range of presenting problems; I particularly enjoy supporting folks with anxiety and / or depression. I have also been trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), a trauma oriented method, I feel that when relevant, it is important to address traumas, both little t and big T traumas which can range from anything like bullying in one's past, to sexual and physical historical traumas. Sometimes with the more severe traumas I think it can be helpful to go at a comfortable pace which sometimes involves breaking the trauma down into smaller pieces. I have worked with children and adolescence in various settings; and I have experience in parenting training.

My approach to therapy

An integration of humanistic, client centered, trauma informed, cognitive behavioral therapy, behavioral, psycho-educational, family systems, parenting training, supportive therapy, and psychodynamic. The tone / environment I try to create is one of care, compassion, empathy, professionalism, realistic, and encouraging.

What you can expect from me

I hope clients gain hope and optimism, along with skills, tools, strategies, and methods to address the presenting problems and / or healing around traumas.
