Great to meet you!

You deserve to be understood as a whole person, not just the challenges you're facing. Hi, I'm Chukwujim Okafor, a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor with 2 years of experience and a master's degree in Counseling from Colorado Christian University. I work with adults navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, alcohol and substance use, addiction, stress management, anger, relationship issues, and major life transitions. I also speak English and Igbo, and I understand how important culture, identity, and personal beliefs can be to your healing journey. My background in theology allows me to support individuals who wish to explore faith, spirituality, meaning, or purpose as part of therapy. I believe everyone has strengths worth recognizing, even when life makes them difficult to see. My goal is to provide a warm, accepting, and nonjudgmental space where you feel heard, respected, and empowered to create meaningful changes in your life.

My approach to therapy

My approach is holistic, person-centered, open-minded, and solution-oriented. I believe you are the expert on your own life, and my role is to walk alongside you as we explore your experiences, recognize your strengths, and work toward the goals that matter most to you. In our sessions, we may look at patterns in your thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and relationships while developing practical tools for managing stress, setting healthy boundaries, improving communication, and responding to difficult situations. I believe meaningful change comes from understanding yourself more deeply while also taking manageable steps forward. My style is compassionate, collaborative, and respectful of your values. If faith or spirituality is important to you, we can make room for those conversations as well. Your beliefs will always be honored, never imposed upon.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a relationship rooted in trust, respect, and understanding. I'll take time to listen to your story, learn what brought you to counseling, and understand what you hope might feel different in your life. We'll also talk about how therapy works, review confidentiality, and give you an opportunity to ask any questions you may have. You don't need to have everything figured out or feel pressured to share more than you're comfortable with. Together, we'll begin identifying your strengths, priorities, and goals while discussing practical next steps that fit your needs. My hope is that you leave feeling heard, respected, and encouraged, knowing that we'll approach your growth as a partnership and move forward at a pace that feels right for you.
