I have over 20 years of experience as a social worker, working with adults of diverse backgrounds and facing varied life transitions and challenges. I have worked extensively with people facing chronic and life-threatening illness as well as anxiety and depression resulting from traumatic experiences. Through my work in many different settings in healthcare and mental health I have come to truly appreciate the significant role that therapy plays in someone's ability to access meaning from their most difficult life challenges and grow as a result.
I have a compassionate and warm approach allowing my clients to feel safe and supported in the therapy process. I work collaboratively with clients to help them to identify the areas or relationships in their lives that they seek to create change, build coping strategies, and increase awareness of their own strengths and resilience. I employ an eclectic approach to therapy utilizing techniques and methods of CBT, narrative therapy, trauma-informed psychotherapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and meaning-centered psychotherapy.
You can expect to feel heard and supported as you identify the challenges you are facing and the insight you hope to gain to create the changes you seek to make. The work will be directed by your needs but with a hands-on approach that is interactive, so you feel guided and empowered along the path to greater resilience.
