About Ciara Nabers, LICSW

Welcome! I’m Ciara Nabers, a licensed clinical social worker dedicated to creating a supportive, respectful, and nonjudgmental space where clients can explore their challenges and work toward meaningful change.

I earned my Bachelor of Science from Auburn University and my Master of Social Work from Alabama A&M University. My professional background includes experience in child welfare, in-home services, psychiatric settings, state prisons, and school social work. These experiences have strengthened my ability to support individuals and families navigating stress, life transitions, trauma, relationship concerns, and complex systems.

I take a compassionate, strengths-based approach to therapy and tailor treatment to each client’s unique needs, culture, and goals. I believe clients are the experts in their own lives, and I work collaboratively to build coping skills, increase insight, and promote healing and resilience.

I have a particular interest in supporting youth and families, individuals involved with child welfare or foster care systems, and clients working through adjustment difficulties, anxiety, depression, trauma, and life transitions. I also value culturally responsive care and strive to create an inclusive environment where clients feel seen, heard, and respected.

Taking the first step toward therapy can feel difficult, and I’m here to meet you where you are. Together, we can identify your strengths, address the challenges you’re facing, and develop practical strategies to help you move forward.

My approach to therapy

My Approach to Therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and strengths-based. I believe that every client brings unique experiences, strengths, and goals to therapy, and I work alongside you to create a safe, supportive space where you can be heard without judgment. Together, we will identify the challenges you are facing, explore the thoughts, emotions, and patterns that may be contributing to them, and develop practical tools to support healing and growth.

I tailor my approach to meet your individual needs and draw on evidence-based practices, including cognitive behavioral and trauma-informed approaches. I also recognize the importance of culture, identity, family, community, and life experiences in shaping well-being. My goal is to help you build insight, strengthen coping skills, improve relationships, and move toward the life you want.

Therapy is a partnership. You set the pace, and I provide guidance, encouragement, and a respectful space for reflection and change.

What you can expect from me

What to Expect in Your First Session

In our first session, my priority is to get to know you and understand what brought you to therapy. We will talk about your current concerns, relevant history, strengths, support system, and goals for treatment. You can share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with—there is no pressure to have everything figured out before we begin.

I will also explain how therapy works, review confidentiality and informed consent, and answer any questions you may have. Together, we will begin to identify your goals and develop a plan that feels meaningful and manageable for you.

You can expect a warm, respectful, and nonjudgmental environment. My goal is for you to leave the first session feeling heard, supported, and with a clearer sense of how we can work together to address your needs.
