Great to meet you!

If traditional talk therapy feels difficult, uncomfortable, or simply isn’t your thing, let’s try a different approach! As a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist, Ciera uses art-making and creative self-expression to help clients explore LGBTQIA+ experiences, neurodiversity, anxiety, depression, and trauma.

Ciera believes therapy doesn’t have to look or feel a certain way to be meaningful. They value authenticity, curiosity, and thinking outside the box, creating space for clients to question expectations, explore their identities, and figure out what works for them.

Ciera's approach is warm and collaborative, with room for humor and honesty. You don’t have to show up with everything figured out, and you certainly don’t have to fit yourself into a box to belong in the therapy room. In sessions, you can explore what makes you you and build a life that feels more genuinely your own.

My approach to therapy

Emotions, especially those related to trauma and neurodiversity, may be best explored through an abstract and expressive approach such as art-making. Art therapy can provide additional insight or a different perspective that may help you work toward your therapeutic goals in a way that feels authentic and real.

In art therapy, the process of creating can become part of the therapy itself. The colors, materials, images, and choices you make can give us new things to notice, explore, and talk about. You don’t have to know what something means before you make it... sometimes meaning shows up along the way.

My approach is flexible and tailored to each person. Art therapy is flexible, a way to work through something that came up in conversation, or simply one tool among many. You do not need to be “good at art,” consider yourself creative, or have an artistic background. The aim is to embody curiosity and exploration, not creating a perfect finished product.

I see therapy as a place to experiment, try something new, make connections, challenge old patterns, and discover what feels more authentic to you. We can use creative expression to explore your experiences together, build self-understanding, and work toward the changes you want to make.

What you can expect from me

Finding a therapist who feels like the “right fit” is an important part of building a strong and effective therapeutic relationship. Your first session with Ciera is an opportunity to get to know one another, talk about what brings you to therapy, and explore what you hope to gain from the process.

Art therapy is for everyone, regardless of artistic skill, age, or background. Making art can offer another way to explore thoughts, emotions, experiences, and goals that may be difficult to express through words alone.

Most importantly, the first session is a chance to see whether Ciera’s approach feels comfortable and supportive for you. Therapy is a collaborative process, and your needs, boundaries, and goals will help shape the work moving forward.
