Great to meet you!

I'm Cindy Gauthier, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with 16 years of experience working with adults and adolescents facing addiction, trauma, anxiety, depression, and the complicated ways these things often show up together. I've worked with people at every stage — those just beginning to question their relationship with substances, those in long-term recovery rebuilding their lives, and those carrying trauma they've never had the words for. I hold a Master of Education from Cambridge and bring both clinical depth and genuine human warmth to every session. I identify as a cisgender woman and am affirming and welcoming of all backgrounds and identities.

My approach to therapy

My approach is humanistic at its core — which means I start from the belief that you already have strengths and wisdom worth building on. I use evidence-based methods including Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), and Interpersonal Psychotherapy, tailored to what you actually need — not a rigid protocol. I work to understand the full picture of your life: your relationships, your history, your values, and what "better" actually means to you. Sessions are collaborative, honest, and sometimes gently challenging — because real growth usually is.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, expect to talk and be heard — really heard. I'll ask about what brought you in, what's been feeling heaviest, and what you're hoping therapy can help you with. There's no intake form to rush through and no pressure to share more than you're ready for. My job in that first session is simply to make it feel safe enough that you want to come back. By the end, we'll have a sense of direction together and a rough plan for what we'll work on. Most clients leave our first session feeling a little lighter — not because we've solved anything yet, but because they've finally said it out loud.
