Great to meet you!

My name is Claudia Alanis and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Texas. Prior to becoming a psychotherapist, I worked for 20+ years in the education system as a teacher, school counselor, school and district administrator. I work with children, adolescents and adults specializing in helping individuals in the areas of anxiety, stress, depression, anger, learning disabilities, and trauma. I am also passionate about working with couples to help them improve their communication and deepen their relationship.

My approach to therapy

The relationship that I build with my clients is the most important element for healing. Your story matters so much, and my focus is to build a trusting and compassionate environment where clients can express their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors without the fear of judgment. I am a reflective and unconditional positive regard therapist who believes in a warm and collaborative approach to therapy, but will also be direct and challenge you when needed.

What you can expect from me

Counseling is a uniquely personal journey. It would be my honor to share in your journey––to help you achieve your life goals, overcome barriers, and find meaning in a world of uncertainty.

My approach is trauma-focused and client-centered, and I tend to tailor my approach to my client(s) particular needs and don't use the same technique for everyone. Some of these include person-centered, Gestalt, CBT, art therapy, mindfulness, Grief therapy, and DBT. I am a certified Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) therapist and a Certified Anger Management Specialist - II.
