Hi, I'm Claudia Stitt, a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas and a Dallas ISD school counselor. I work with children ages 6 to 12 navigating anxiety, ADHD, grief, and anger, mostly through play therapy, where kids can show me what they cannot always say out loud. I also see clients in Spanish and Portuguese.
My sessions are rooted in child-centered play therapy, so your child leads with toys, art, and stories while I help translate what is underneath, big feelings, worry, grief, or frustration, into language we can work with together. With older kids, I lean on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to spot unhelpful thought patterns and build calmer responses, and Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) to keep sessions practical and focused on what is working. Sessions are virtual, so your child stays in a familiar space, and I check in with parents regularly so what we build in session carries into daily life at home and school.
Our first session is mostly about getting comfortable. I will ask about what is going on at home and school, what you have already tried, and what you are hoping changes. For younger children, I bring play into session right away so it never feels like a formal appointment. For parents, I will explain how virtual play therapy works and what to expect week to week. By the end, you should feel like you have a clear, simple plan and a sense that your child is in steady, caring hands.
