Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Dr. Clay Connelly, but please just call me "Clay." I'm a licensed professional counselor with over 15 years of experience working with teens and adults facing anxiety, depression, anger, stress, relationship challenges, life transitions, and other emotional concerns. Clients often describe me as approachable, down-to-earth, and easy to talk to. My goal is to create an environment where you feel comfortable being yourself while also helping you make meaningful progress toward your goals.

I believe therapy should be both supportive and practical. In our work together, we'll focus not only on understanding what you're experiencing but also on developing skills and strategies you can use in everyday life. Whether you're seeking short-term support or longer-term personal growth, I strive to provide a respectful, collaborative, and nonjudgmental therapeutic experience.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is collaborative, client-centered, and tailored to each individual's unique needs. I believe that every person brings their own strengths, experiences, and goals to the therapeutic process, and I work alongside clients to create a treatment plan that fits their situation.

I draw from evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and strengths-based interventions to help clients better understand their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Together, we identify patterns that may be contributing to current challenges and develop practical strategies for creating positive change.

I strive to provide a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel comfortable exploring difficult topics while building the skills and confidence needed to move toward their goals.

What you can expect from me

Starting therapy can feel intimidating, so my goal is to make the first session as comfortable and productive as possible. We'll talk about what brought you to therapy, the challenges you're currently facing, and what you hope will be different in your life as a result of counseling.

I'll ask questions to better understand your background, strengths, and concerns, but there is no pressure to share more than you're comfortable discussing. The first session is also your opportunity to ask questions and get a sense of my approach. Together, we'll begin identifying goals and creating a roadmap for the work ahead.
