Great to meet you!

Hello! My name is Clay, and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor in the state of Georgia. I earned my PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from the College of William & Mary, my Masters Degree in Mental Health Counseling and Family/Couples Counseling from Barry University, and my BA in Theatre Arts from the University of Georgia. Prior to becoming a Counselor, I enjoyed a ten-year career as an actor and writer in the city of Atlanta. I have worked in Community Behavioral Health, Substance Use Treatment facilities, College Counseling Centers, and in Private Practice. My specialties include working with depression, anxiety, men's issues, and substance use. I have extensive experience with adolescents and young adults.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is informed by three orientations- Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy, which examines and transforms the thoughts, attitudes and behaviors that generate emotional distress, Solution-Focused Counseling, which taps into my clients' pre-existing strengths and resources to solve their presenting problems, and Narrative Therapy, which views my clients' lives as a story and empowers them to edit, change and re-author it for the better.

What you can expect from me

From the very first point of contact, I work to ensure that my clients feel seen, heard and respected. My clients can expect to take away fresh, empowering perspectives on their presenting problems, and a host of skills and exercises that reduce distress and empower them to live authentically and fully.
