Great to meet you!

For over 40 years, I've had the privilege of walking alongside individuals, couples, families, and teenagers through some of the most difficult chapters of their lives. I specialize in substance use and addiction, mental health, impulse control, anger, and behavioral challenges — and I've worked across a wide range of settings, from inpatient care to schools to corporate consulting to the criminal justice system. That breadth means I've seen a lot, and very little surprises me. What I bring to every session is genuine warmth, deep experience, and a real commitment to meeting you exactly where you are. I hold licenses in professional counseling and clinical alcohol and drug counseling, and I'm a Certified Intervention Professional — but more than any credential, what I care most about is making sure you feel safe, respected, and understood from the moment we start working together. You don't have to be in crisis, and you don't have to have the right words. You just have to show up.

My approach to therapy

I believe that real, lasting change happens when people feel genuinely seen — not judged, not rushed, and not reduced to a diagnosis or a set of symptoms. My approach is warm and direct. I'll be honest with you, I'll challenge you when it's helpful, and I'll always do it with care. Over the years I've developed a wide range of techniques to address the individual needs of each person I work with, drawing on my background in addiction counseling, mental health treatment, and family and adolescent therapy. Whether you're navigating the aftermath of substance use, struggling with anger that feels out of control, or working through relationship patterns that keep getting in the way, we'll build a plan that actually fits your life. I work with individuals, couples, and families, and I'm especially experienced with adolescents and teens who are dealing with behavioral, emotional, or impulse control challenges. My goal is always the same: to help you move from surviving to genuinely living.

What you can expect from me

The first session is really about you — your story, what's been going on, and what you're hoping to get out of therapy. I'll ask questions and listen carefully, but there's no pressure to share everything at once. We'll talk about what's brought you in, what's felt hard, and what you're hoping might be different on the other side of this work. By the end of our first meeting, you'll have a clearer sense of whether this feels like the right fit, and we'll begin to sketch out what working together might look like. A lot of people come in feeling nervous or unsure — that's completely normal, and I want you to know that my office is a genuinely judgment-free space. If you've been on the fence about reaching out, I'd gently encourage you to take that first step. You don't have to wait until things get worse to deserve support.
