Great to meet you!

My approach to counseling as well as my personal life is defined by life-learned and informed compassion. I know that all individuals should be treated with respect and dignity.

In my 20's I studied acting at the Strasberg Institute and did the waiter/actor bit in Hollywood while living in the beach community of Venice, CA. I earned membership in Screen Actor's Guild (currently on honorary withdrawal) and was an active member for 30+ years. During my 30's I was an Account Executive for 2 different ad agencies in New York City (that's right, acting wasn't paying the bills). It wasn't until my 40's that I got serious about education finishing a BA in Psychology on the same day I started graduate school.

At that point I was committed to a final career as a therapist. I'm glad I did and I am glad to be here now. I practice from an inclusive and compassionate perspective. This is a helping profession and I've helped many throughout the years. I intend to continue. I found (during the pandemic) that online counseling is viable and comparable to in-office therapy. So that is how I practice exclusively anymore. In a real way it cuts out the middleman and allows an excellent forum for therapeutic interaction and communication.

A bit about my approach to therapy

I understand that we are informed by trauma. One of my key interests is "how the brain works" especially as it relates to how we format during childhood, adolescence, and throughout our adult years. This does not mean I'm a boring pedantic. Generally sessions include humor, client centered rationale, and relatable narrative. I don't direct clients. Therapy is a journey that we take together. It should be interesting and a safe harbor for the client. The entirety of counseling is that the client (you) feel better and hence do better in the living of your own life. There is no other purpose.

What you can expect from our first session

I practice within my own ideals of affirmation and creative thinking. Every session has its own dynamic so it is difficult to project how a client is going to feel on the other side. Some sessions are harder than others. However, my clients can expect to feel better afterward. It is not a rule, of course, just an expectation. My clients have the opportunity to spend time in a safe, nurturing environment devoted to addressing their own issues, solving problems, and getting acquainted with their best selves.
