Great to meet you!

I’m Colby Mathis, a mental health counselor who is passionate about helping those struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, and spiritual issues. While I’m totally open to exploring your needs and adjusting my preferences, my ideal client is aged 13– 60s with a special focus on males and masculinity. Asking for help is difficult, particularly so for men. As a male who has struggled with anxiety throughout my life, I am passionate about helping open the door to healing for men.

My approach to therapy

My counseling style is one of compassion, empathy, and validation with focus on building trust and a strong therapeutic relationship. I operate from a trauma focused and inquisitive mindset, taking mental consideration of your past experiences that may be contributing to how you are feeling today. I believe in an adaptive therapeutic process and may pull skills from a wide variety of treatment styles. I will often be utilizing EMDR, CBT,DBT, and Christian Counseling if requested.

What you can expect from me

First and foremost, I hope clients can take away a fresh sense of insight, self-awareness, and validation from our time together. I believe it is important to be inquisitive – asking questions – about our experiences and exploring alternatives as well as making plans moving forward. We also will work, at times, to reprocess past hurts to be able to move forward and break free from any experiences that might be limiting in some way.
