Great to meet you!

Hello, my name is Dr. Wilcoxen. I have been working in the field of psychology for about eight years total. I completed my doctorate at Midwestern University in Glendale Arizona. I have worked with multiple populations, however, my favorite is with adolescents and emerging adults. I have experience working with LGBTQ+ issues, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, and more.

My approach to therapy

I use an electric approach in therapy. I like to combine a Person Centered approach with aspects of CBT. I also enjoy using play therapy when applicable.

I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to healing because your story is unique. Think of me as a partner who meets you exactly where you are. I lead with empathy and deep listening, making sure you feel truly heard and never judged. From there, we’ll work together to identify the patterns in your thoughts that might be holding you back and swap them for tools that actually work in your daily life. And for my younger clients (or the young at heart!), I love bringing creativity and play into our sessions—sometimes the biggest breakthroughs happen when we stop 'talking' and start creating.

What you can expect from me

The first session will be a lot of me understanding and getting to know you, what you like, what you dislike, and hopefully deciding if we are a good fit for one another!

My goal is to create a space where you feel safe enough to be your messiest self, but supported enough to grow. I combine a heart-centered approach with practical, brain-based strategies to help you understand not just what you’re feeling, but how to navigate those feelings with confidence. I’m a firm believer that therapy shouldn't just be 'sitting and talking.' Whether we’re using structured tools to tackle anxiety or using play and imagination to process difficult emotions, we will find the specific path that leads you back to yourself.
