Great to meet you!

What we expose will no longer hold power. I am committed to helping you cause a shift, and therefore a transformation in your life. I have worked with individuals with a variety of backgrounds and have seen first-hand transformation happen. Change is easier when you are supported, heard, and understood.

I became a therapist later in life, which I think gives me a broader perspective. I have always been interested in the psyche and what makes people tick. I came into the profession through the back door, so to speak. I was a Special Ed teacher and realized that if I was going to work with this population, I needed to have more education.

I hold a masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and I am certified in both Somatic Experiencing and Brainspotting.

My approach to therapy

I have an eclectic style of therapy, and I like to engage the client in first understanding what is going on in the mind subconsciously that may be affecting how they respond in the present. Although the story is important, it can also take people out of their feelings, so I encourage clients to check in with their bodies and track the sensations.

I create a safe environment by being a witness to your pain. Many seeking therapy haven't been seen or heard, so witnessing is essential. I hope you'll feel supported, heard, and understood as we work together.

What you can expect from me

I start with psychoeducation about the brain and body, and how the body stores unresolved issues. This may be new to you if you think it all stems from the mind. I hope to give you understanding that you can heal and that your trauma doesn't define you.
