Great to meet you!
Welcome! I'm a clinical social worker with over 25 years of experience working closely with individuals, families, and community members in the immediate aftermath of challenging and traumatic events. I have supported people from diverse backgrounds and identities throughout my career and value the opportunity to get to know each client's strengths, challenges, values and hopes. My approach is relational, client-centered, and trauma-informed. I draw from many theoretical models and interventions, aware that the most important foundation to successful therapeutic outcomes is our rapport and connection.
I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin School of Social Work with my master's degree in 1998. I spent the first part of my career working with people who had experienced domestic violence and sexual assault and am passionate about continuing to support survivors and their friends and families.
I have worked extensively with first responders, including police, fire, EMS, 911 call takers, dispatchers, and emergency room staff. I recognize the dangers of vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue, and burnout in these professions, and am able to provide non-judgmental validation and a healing environment.
