Great to meet you!

I’m a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) with experience working with children, teens, adults, and families through many different seasons of life. I earned my Master of Social Work from the University of North Alabama and also hold a Master’s degree in Human Services with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy.

Much of my work has focused on trauma, anxiety, depression, family and relationship concerns, life transitions, stress, and helping people navigate situations that simply feel overwhelming. I have worked in community mental health, intensive outpatient services, child advocacy, and other behavioral health settings.

Most importantly, I want therapy to feel like a place where you can be yourself. You don’t have to have the right words or know exactly what you want to work on before you come in. We can figure that out together.

My approach to therapy

My approach is warm, down-to-earth, collaborative, and individualized. I believe therapy works best when you feel comfortable enough to be honest without worrying about being judged. I’ll meet you where you are, while also encouraging and challenging you when it can help you move forward.

I use a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach and incorporate evidence-based strategies based on each person’s needs. Sometimes therapy means learning practical coping skills or changing patterns that aren’t working anymore. Other times, it means slowing down and having a safe place to process something difficult.

I also believe there can be room for humor and personality in therapy. You are a person, not a diagnosis, and I want our work together to reflect that.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is really about getting to know one another. I’ll ask about what brought you to therapy, what has been happening in your life, what you would like to be different, and what has or hasn’t helped in the past.

You won’t be expected to tell me everything in one session. We’ll go at a pace that feels comfortable while beginning to identify your goals and what you would like to get out of therapy. You’ll also have an opportunity to ask me questions.

My goal is for you to leave the first session feeling heard, understood, and with a clearer idea of how we can work together.
