Great to meet you!

My name is Dr. Corinne Votaw-Freer, and I am a dedicated therapist and licensed psychologist. I help people eliminate old patterns that control their thoughts, beliefs, actions, and self-identity. Together, We remove barriers that hide their natural strengths and intrinsic value. I lead my clients to achieve their highest potential by building their confidence and teaching them to effectively advocate for themselves.

I completed my doctorate at Loma Linda University in California, with four years of experience working on native/indigenous peoples' reservations. Upon completion of the program, the majority of my work has been with the LGBTQ+ population, people in or leaving religious communities, trauma survivors, and in private practice settings for general psychological assistance.

My approach to therapy

In my therapy practice, I focus on understanding a person's entire experience, viewing them holistically rather than dissecting their experiences into smaller parts. I prioritize the present moment, encouraging clients to explore their current feelings and behaviors within a safe space. Using creative and experiential techniques, I help clients connect their immediate perceptions to broader life challenges, allowing them to uncover and address unresolved issues for deeper self-awareness and personal growth.

My approach is influenced by principles of visual perception, such as recognizing patterns in thoughts and behaviors. This helps clients see the bigger picture and understand how different aspects of their lives are interconnected. I view the therapeutic process as a journey of integration, weaving together various facets of a person's life into a coherent whole. This holistic perspective enriches my understanding of human behavior and allows me to provide comprehensive and empathetic support, fostering a deeper connection with each client.

What you can expect from me

Your first therapy session with me is a chance for us to get to know each other and begin building a space where you feel safe, supported, and understood. We’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, any concerns or goals you have, and relevant parts of your history that may help guide our work together. There is no pressure to share everything all at once—I move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. You can expect a collaborative, nonjudgmental conversation focused on helping you feel heard while we begin identifying the best path forward.
