Great to meet you!

As a counseling psychologist with many years of experience, I believe that attending to mental health helps people responsibly take care of themselves, improve their relationships, and maintain the flexibility they need to pursue their goals and values. I'm interested in working together with individuals who have identified that anxiety or obsessive worry is contributing to rigidity and problematic avoidance. Similar to physical therapy, active collaboration with an experienced and knowledgeable mental health therapist can assist with recovering from injury, maintaining strength and flexibility, and staying active in important work and activities.

My approach to therapy

I draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to inform my work; this is a highly effective and well researched approach that focuses on 1) recognizing when our attempts to secure control may be backfiring, 2) gaining awareness and flexibility regarding painful or troubling thoughts and emotions, and 3) increasing our ability to move towards the things that are important to us.

What you can expect from me

I find it gratifying to help people learn and develop personalized versions of established wellness practices like mindfulness, radical acceptance of internal experiences, values identification, and self-compassion to establish a personal toolkit that increases their ability to make bold life moves that are congruent with their goals and values. Individuals who meet with me can expect that we will work together in session to use our shared expertise to plan and execute behavioral change outside of session.
