Great to meet you!

Courtney Bennett Spland, LPC Licensed Professional Counselor | Crisis Responder | Eating Disorder Specialist

As a dedicated crisis responder and eating disorder specialist, I take a solution-focused approach that helps clients confront and process the traumas that led them to where they are — and more importantly, guide them toward where they want to be. As an eating disorder clinician I will understand, assess, and treat eating disorders such as anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, ARFID, or OSFED. Together, we’ll develop practical coping skills and create space for transformation, so you can move from merely surviving to thriving. My goal is to help you shift your mindset and step into a new season with clarity, strength, and purpose.

My approach to therapy

  • CBT-E (Enhanced Cognitive Behavioral Therapy): Focuses on the thoughts, emotions, and behaviors maintaining the eating disorder. It’s one of the most evidence-based treatments.
  • DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy): Emphasizes emotional regulation and distress tolerance, especially helpful for clients with co-occurring mood or personality disorders.
  • Family-Based Therapy (FBT/Maudsley Approach): Often used with adolescents, empowering the family to take an active role in recovery.
  • ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy): Helps clients build psychological flexibility, values-driven behavior, and mindfulness around body and food thoughts.
  • HAES® (Health at Every Size): A weight-inclusive, non-diet approach that rejects weight stigma and focuses on overall well-being rather than weight control.

What you can expect from me

My goal is to challenge you to challenge yourself with hard things. Because Guess what? You can do HARD THINGS! Discomfort/Uneasiness makes us STRONGER! You can expect to feel empowered, reenergized, motivated and changed following sessions.
