Great to meet you!

I graduated from UCF with my Master's in Social Work in 2004. For years after, I worked in medical social work, but there came a time when I transitioned into mental health therapy. I found it allowed me to really connect with clients and empower each of them to live quality meaningful lives. I am eclectic for the most part, treating any problem that presents to me. I am certified in trauma, mood and anxiety disorders, and IFS. Some of my areas of focus include mood and anxiety disorders, substance use disorders, trauma, OCD, ADHD, changes with aging. I work with children ages 10 to 17 and adults (young, middle-aged, senior).

My approach to therapy

I believe in developing rapport, and collaborating with my client on his or her goals.. I believe in validation, education, and providing tools for success. It is important for me to get to know my client and provide a safe space to get the help they need. I listen and I ask questions to understand. I clarify and provide feedback to make sure we're on the same page.

What you can expect from me

The first session is information-gathering. I will ask what brings them to therapy and ask questions to get a good picture of what's happening. I ask about childhood relationships with family and other kids, I ask about academics. Relevant treatment history is reviewed. I provide feedback as to what I see and we discuss goals.
