Great to meet you!

I'm so glad you're here. Reaching out is often the hardest part, and you've already done it.

I'm Dr. Courtney Miller, a licensed clinical psychologist in California with a doctorate from the Wright Institute in Berkeley. I work mostly with women, mothers, couples, and ministry leaders — often the people everyone else leans on, who rarely get to set anything down. My focus is anxiety, burnout, and grief: the high-functioning anxiety of women who look fine and aren't, the exhaustion that goes deeper than a weekend can fix, and the kinds of loss that don't always get called loss — miscarriage, pregnancy loss, a role you outgrew, a version of yourself you're still mourning. I'm also a pastor, so if you want your faith in the room, I can meet you there. If you'd rather it stay out, that's completely welcome too.

My approach to therapy

My approach is depth-oriented and integrative. I draw from psychodynamic, CBT, attachment, relational, and narrative therapy, not as a checklist, but woven together based on what you need. I work to understand the structure underneath your patterns, not just manage the surface symptoms. Christian faith integration is optional throughout our work and entirely client-directed. I follow your lead.

Sessions are warm and direct. I'll listen carefully, ask questions that cut deeper than the ones you've already asked yourself, and challenge you with care when it matters. We'll explore your emotions, relationships, lived story, and the family dynamics still shaping you — and we'll build from your strengths, not just your struggles.

What you can expect from me

Expect to feel heard, fully, not just on the surface. In our first session we'll spend real time on your story: what brought you here, what you've already tried, and what healing actually looks like in your specific life. I won't hand you worksheets in week one. We'll build understanding before we build a plan. Most clients leave that first session with a mixture of relief and clarity, like something that had been sitting in the dark finally has a name.

I offer a free 15-minute consultation before we start so you can ask questions and make sure we're the right fit. Weekday telehealth appointments are available throughout California. I keep a small number of openings so every client gets real attention — reach out and let's begin.
