Great to meet you!

I lead by creating a genuine and trusting relationship, as it is the bedrock of therapeutic work. You are the expert on you and I am the expert in psychology; together, we form a team to work through whatever is bringing you to therapy. During our first appointment, we will get to know each other, review your history, what is bringing you in at this time.

A bit about my approach to therapy

Dr. Courtney Purdy works with a diverse population of individuals and couples in a collaborative approach. She emphasizes the therapeutic relationship and offers a nonjudgmental and empathetic environment. Dr. Purdy uses informed dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and interpersonal therapy (IPT).

What you can expect from our first session

In therapy, I typically focus on living in the present moment, gaining an awareness of the stories your brain is telling you, learning how to regulate your emotions, and learning how to communicate in an effective way. We will work through the tough stuff and celebrate the victories together.
