Great to meet you!

I began my nursing career over 20 years ago as a cardiac/critical care nurse at a community hospital. After several years, I started working with Veterans at the VA hospital in mental health. I developed a passion for helping patients with mental illness and substance use. I cared for patients who were seriously mentally ill (SMI), adolescents, adults populations. I saw the positive impact I could have on patients' lives and obtained my degree as a psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner.

My approach to therapy

Courtney Tafoya is a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner with over 20 years of experience. She treats adolescents and adults with mental health and substance use disorders. Her experience spans mental health/substance use, cardiac care, and critical/emergency care. She provides care with a whole-person approach, considering the emotional, mental, and physical health of the patient.

What you can expect from me

Seeking treatment can be overwhelming and should be as easy as possible. Clients can expect sessions to be a safe space to freely express concerns and emotions without judgement. Clients will be able to assist in developing a treatment plan and start a journey to living their best life. I feel I can increase access to psychiatric medication management services in the community and help individuals achieve and maintain optimal mental health.
