I'm a clinical social worker and enjoy work with mood and anxiety disorders of all kinds, as well as people navigating major life transitions, people in substance use recovery, dieting recovery, and those setting boundaries with complex families of origin. Prior to becoming a therapist I worked in public policy for over a decade, and have a deep understanding of the societal structures in place that feel immovable, and yet greatly impact our mental health.
I use a variety of treatment approaches, but draw greatly from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I also draw from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy tools and skills, and enjoy introducing clients to a Health at Every Size/anti-diet approach to physical health.I consider myself solution-focused and want our work together to continue only as long as needed! Therapy need not be forever.
I want clients to understand that therapy is a collaborative process, and feel like I'm a partner in them reaching their goals. I want clients to feel supported, and also held accountable. I am a therapist who is warm, empathetic and validating, but won't hesitate to be direct when needed!
