Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Cristan! I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Bachelor’s Social Worker, and Certified Care Manager.

Long before I held professional licenses or degrees, I was learning—quietly, firsthand—what it meant to navigate a world that does not easily accommodate difference.

With more than twelve years of experience supporting individuals with disabilities, I am deeply committed to helping people feel understood, empowered, and capable of meaningful change. My approach is holistic and grounded in emotional, mental, and spiritual wellness. I’m soft spoken, calming, and sensitive in my style, and I believe therapy works best when it’s collaborative — we share power, make decisions together, and move at a pace that feels right for you. I work with individuals and families navigating developmental disabilities, chronic illness, ADHD, caregiver stress, life transitions, and family conflict. Together, we'll focus on stress management, emotional wellness, and practical tools to improve daily life.

My approach to therapy

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

As a therapist, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients identify and change unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to emotional distress. I work collaboratively with clients to develop practical coping strategies, build self-awareness, and create lasting changes that support their mental health and personal goals.

Motivational Interviewing

I utilize Motivational Interviewing (MI) to help clients resolve ambivalence and increase their readiness for change. By using empathy, reflective listening, and collaborative goal setting, I support clients in identifying their own reasons for change and building confidence in their ability to achieve meaningful, lasting growth.

Supportive

I utilize supportive therapy to help clients feel heard, validated, and understood as they navigate life's challenges. By providing empathy, encouragement, and practical support, I help clients build on their strengths, improve coping skills, and develop greater confidence in managing stress and emotional difficulties.

Interpersonal

I utilize Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) to help clients identify and address relationship patterns, communication difficulties, and life transitions that affect their mental health. Through a collaborative process, I support clients in strengthening interpersonal relationships, improving communication skills, and developing healthier ways of navigating social and emotional challenges.

Psychoeducation

I incorporate psychoeducation into therapy to help clients understand their mental health concerns, treatment options, and effective coping strategies. By providing information and practical tools, I empower clients to increase self-awareness, build confidence, and actively participate in their growth and healing process.

What you can expect from me

I use a holistic approach integrating emotional, mental, and spiritual wellness. I provide mindfulness counseling, chronic illness support, ADHD therapy, and family conflict resolution, helping you build coping skills, resilience, and lasting growth. My style is warm and inviting. I aim to build rapport, so you feel comfortable and able to do your best work in our sessions. During the first session, I will get to know you better, it's important that you feel comfortable and understood.
