Great to meet you!

As a counselor, I trust in the creative power that each person carries inside to facilitate growing awareness and self-compassion. I believe that cognitive flexibility helps me meet clients’ here-and-now needs as they emerge in session. I am a full-time professor in the School of Counseling at Colorado Christian University, and I supervise LPC Associates in Texas. I live in the DFW area, but I only see clients on Thursday afternoons via telehealth.

A bit about my approach to therapy

I use a trauma-informed approach. I believe that each person's story and struggle make perfect sense when viewed within the context of what they have survived. I tailor what we do in therapy to fit each unique client's needs and strengths. I don't spend nearly as much time asking, "What's wrong with you?" as I spend asking, "What's right with you, and how can we leverage that to help you get where you'd like to go?". Sessions with me are collaborative, interactive, and experiential.

What you can expect from our first session

Clients can expect to be an actively engaged part of the counseling process every step of the way. Part of that involves figuring out what level of therapy they want. Some clients prefer concrete strategies to cope with or overcome specific problems. Others desire deep healing. As the client, you can expect to take away what you communicate that you desire. Our work will be focused and intentional, to help you successfully reach your goals.
