Great to meet you!

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Social Worker in the State of Texas. Between my two licenses, I have a total of 29 years of experience ranging from treatment for adult's issues/needs to treatment for early childhood ages and childhood, as well as treatment for adults 60+ and the elderly. My approach in therapy is of a Person-Centered, Solution-Focused nature and I have assisted clients with a wide range of concerns including significant life changes, parenting, foster care and adoption, divorce or separation, grief and loss, childhood or adult traumas, family issues, domestic abuse, relationship issues, early childhood intervention and medical needs, compassion fatigue, career, and individual spiritual walk. I focus on assisting the client with addressing emotional struggles and in how to face life events in a way that is safe, healthy and positive for them individually and not in comparison to others as each of our lives are unique and at times complicated. Working with a client to see that their life and situation may be unique BUT that they are definitely NOT ALONE and that there is both Hope and Help, is what drives me to continue with my passion to counsel those seeking support as they take their journey in this life. I want each client to feel that they are being heard and valued as they walk through situations with me and get help finding solutions to their need at hand. Oftentimes, a client simply needs to have a sounding board to help them line out their emotions and a course of action but then at other times they simply need professional support in learning about options for tools to use and approaches they can take as they work to address an issue at hand. The combination of my training in social work along with professional counseling, lends well to me working with a client needing both a person-centered but also a solution-focused approach to assist with positive and supportive change.

My approach to therapy

I believe every client brings with them a unique background and that each client deserves a unique and individualized treatment approach that will help guide them to decisions that they feel are made with their best interests in mind. I utilize a combination of many therapeutic approaches and interventions primarily utilizing Strengths Based Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Behavioral Activation Therapy and Humanistic Therapy. I am very down to earth and want the client to feel heard and seen as they share their story and concerns with me. I want them to feel supported and that they are receiving counseling in a non-judgmental and safe environment for all aspects needed for their growth and healing.

I love working with all ages and have served a variety of client needs over the past 29 years, with 19 of those years being counseling and 10 years being social work. I have a vast range of experience helping address needs in the areas of Stress, Anxiety, Coping with Life Changes, Trauma and Abuse, Attachment, Childhood and Early Life Traumas, Marriage/Relationships, Family Conflicts, Women's Issues, Christian Counseling, General Counseling, Non-Religious Counseling, Relationship Issues, as well as Infertility and Foster Care and Adoption. My heart's desire is to meet clients where they are in their lives and not necessarily limit it to case scenarios I have served in the past but rather, who I can help grow and heal in the now and future. Clients have so much to teach others and I learn and gain valuable experience as a professional every time I gain a client with some of my familiar expertise areas but also when I face new areas and walk through it with them in a way that helps them overcome and thrive again.

What you can expect from me

In your first session with me, I prepare you to walk back into your world knowing that you were able to unfold your story with me, voice your concerns and emotions in a way that then allows you to face your world with more strength, and help you leave knowing that you now have a safe place to navigate decision making with professional support rather than being isolated or alone. As you and I work together to bring you to a place of feeling grounded and secure both mentally and emotionally. I will also help you face and develop plans for action-steps that help you arrive at meeting your goals in your everyday life and routines.
