Great to meet you!

I received my BS in Psychology from Virginia Commonwealth University and continued at VCU to earn my M.Ed in Counselor Education. I started my counseling career working as an elementary school counselor for over twelve years. During my work in the schools, I saw many parents struggling to find outside counseling resources for their children and seeking a clinician who would collaborate with the parents and the school to provide supports that allowed their child to excel socially, emotionally, and academically. This motivated me to pursue further certification as a LPC, so that I could practice outside of the school setting and help fill that gap of resources in the community.

I enjoy working with children, adolescents, teens, and young adults. My experience in the school setting allows me to provide a unique perspective on treatment and valuable insight into helping connect schools and guide parents in finding the best supports for children across settings. I use many different approaches and techniques and try to personalize my therapy to what works best for the client. I believe the most effective way to reach children is through play and expressive techniques. I am trained in EMDR therapy and offer this treatment for children and adults. My hope when working with of all ages is that with support and empowerment, I can help them move outside of their existing comfort zone and enrich their lives.

My approach to therapy

I use a client-centered integrative approach and try to tailor sessions to the individual's interests. With children, I use child-centered play therapy and expressive techniques
