Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Crystal Leal, M.Ed., LPC, and I’m truly glad you’re here.

I was born and raised in South Texas, and this community has played an important role in shaping who I am both personally and professionally. Throughout my career, I’ve worked with individuals and families from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, developmental, and personal backgrounds. These experiences have taught me the importance of listening without judgment, honoring each person’s story, and meeting people where they are.

Before becoming a counselor, I spent 12 years in education, working with children and adolescents, including at-risk youth and students with neurodivergent needs. This work deepened my passion for helping young people feel understood, supported, and empowered. I saw firsthand how anxiety, trauma, family dynamics, relationships, school experiences, and life circumstances can shape how we see ourselves and the world around us.

That passion led me to earn my Master’s degree in Counseling from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Today, as a Licensed Professional Counselor, I bring my experience in education, school counseling, and mental health into my work with clients.

My approach is warm, compassionate, empowering, and trauma-informed. I believe you are the expert on your own life. My role is not to tell you who you should be, but to walk alongside you, help you recognize your strengths, and support you in creating meaningful change.

Together, we’ll create a space where you can feel safe enough to be honest, supported enough to be vulnerable, and empowered enough to believe that growth is possible.

I believe asking for help is a strength. Wherever you are in your journey, I’m here to meet you where you are, and I look forward to getting to know you.

My approach to therapy

I believe therapy should be a safe, welcoming space where you feel heard, respected, and empowered to be yourself. My approach is warm, compassionate, collaborative, and trauma-informed. I meet each client where they are and take the time to understand their unique experiences, strengths, values, culture, and goals.

Rather than telling you what you “should” do, I believe in working alongside you to discover what feels right for your life. Together, we can explore patterns, build self-awareness, develop healthy coping skills, strengthen confidence, and work toward meaningful change at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and create a space where you feel safe, comfortable, and heard. We’ll talk about what brought you to counseling, what you hope to work on, and what support may be helpful. We’ll take things at your pace, identify your strengths and goals, and begin building a path toward positive change.
