Great to meet you!
Hello and welcome to therapy! Let me tell you a bit about myself. I have over 25 years of experience working with people to make a change in their lives.
I studied social work at East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee. I am a very fast learner and worked quickly to earn a Bachelor of Science in Social Work degree in three years. After that, I attended the University of Tennessee’s accelerated program, earning a Master of Science in Social Work degree in one short year.
Over the years I had the opportunity to work in a variety of settings with people with various concerns, including anxiety, infertility, domestic violence, low self-esteem, childhood sexual abuse, life stage transition (aging), career change, anger management, marital relationship problems, premarital counseling, ADHD, and depression. This is not the entire scope of my practice over the last 25 years but provides a snapshot of areas in which I have experience.
I became a social worker because I believe that we all can benefit from a bit of support from time to time. I enjoy talking with individuals, couples, and families. I believe that the most important part of the therapeutic process is the relationship between the client and clinician. I work hard to create a safe space where you will feel comfortable sharing at your pace. I utilize a variety of therapeutic techniques in sessions, including cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness exercises, and solution-focused therapy. I am here to provide education, offer support, and help you meet your goals. I do encourage clients to continue to work outside of sessions and, sometimes, will incorporate exercises or tasks between sessions. I will be with you each step of the way. I feel truly honored and blessed to be doing this meaningful work. I am proud of you for taking the first steps and excited to be part of your journey!
