Great to meet you!

Hi there! I’m Dr. Uzoamaka Crystal Nwosu, founder of Sentiere Health. My background is in both medicine and public health. After medical school, I completed my psychiatry residency training in Washington, DC, and have experience caring for patients across a variety of healthcare settings.

On a personal level, I’ve lived in 10 different countries, an experience that has deepened my appreciation for listening, learning, and understanding people and the experiences that shape them.

Sentiere means “to feel” or “to understand,” and that philosophy is at the heart of how I approach my work—both as a physician and as a person.

My approach to therapy

My approach to psychiatry is grounded in the belief that meaningful care begins with understanding the whole person, their experiences, relationships, environment, culture, and the path that brought them here.

At Sentiere, my goal is to create a thoughtful and collaborative space where patients feel heard, respected, and actively involved in their care. Sentiere is inspired by the Italian word sentire—to feel, hear, sense, and understand. So I combine evidence-based psychiatric treatment with a biopsychosocial approach, helping patients better understand themselves while developing a treatment plan that supports meaningful and sustainable change.

I believe mental health care should be more than symptom management; it should help people move forward with greater clarity, agency, and confidence.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is an opportunity for me to understand you as a whole person—not just a list of symptoms. We’ll talk about what brought you to care, your current concerns and goals, as well as the medical, emotional, social, and life experiences that may be contributing to how you feel.

My goal is to create a comfortable, judgment-free space where you feel heard and can speak openly. By the end of our first visit, we’ll work toward a shared understanding of what may be going on and develop a thoughtful treatment plan together, which may include medication, therapy recommendations, lifestyle changes, or a combination of approaches.
