Great to meet you!

Hello, and welcome! My name is Crystal Tart and I’m a licensed therapist with dual Master’s degrees in Behavioral Health and Addiction Studies. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working in a wide range of settings, including private practice, hospitals, halfway houses, and substance use treatment programs. This has allowed me to support individuals and families facing a variety of challenges—from navigating everyday stressors to coping with acute crises.

My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and forward-focused. I draw from evidence-based practices including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Strength Based Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Each treatment plan is customized to your unique goals and needs, with a strong emphasis on emotional processing, skills development, and building a life aligned with your values.

I lean into the principles of positive psychology, helping clients recognize their strengths and move forward with purpose and resilience. Whether you're working through personal struggles, relationship issues, or recovery from substance use, I’m here to walk alongside you with compassion, honesty, and practical tools for lasting change.

I believe in the power of connection, and my goal is to create a space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to grow.

My approach to therapy

Your Journey, Your Pace

In our work together, you set the tone. Whether you're navigating a life transition, working through pain from the past, or simply seeking to know yourself more deeply, I’ll meet you where you are—with respect, curiosity, and care.I utilize person -Centered principles with CBT & DBT therapy methods.

Core Principles of Person-Centered Therapy (based on Carl Rogers' work):

  1. Unconditional Positive Regard I meet you without judgment. Whatever you're feeling or thinking is valid in your experience, and you deserve to be heard.
  2. Empathy I aim to understand your perspective from your point of view—reflecting and clarifying as needed so you feel truly understood.
  3. Congruence (Genuineness) I strive to be authentic and transparent in our interactions
  4. Client Autonomy & Self-Actualization You are the expert on you. My role is to help you explore your own thoughts and feelings so that you can grow in the direction that feels right to you.

What you can expect from me

What You Might Take Away From Therapy

While each person’s journey is unique, clients I work with often experience:

  • Stronger emotional regulation Learn practical skills to identify, manage, and respond to your emotions in healthier ways.
  • Improved communication and relationships Build confidence in expressing yourself and interacting more effectively with others.
  • Greater self-awareness and self-acceptance Understand your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors with more clarity and compassion.
  • More intentional decision-making Develop the ability to respond to life’s challenges rather than react, leading to more grounded and values-aligned choices.
  • Freedom from limiting beliefs and patterns Identify and challenge unhelpful thinking or deeply rooted beliefs that may be holding you back.

A Collaborative Process

Our work together is not about “fixing” you—it’s about helping you reconnect with your own strengths, values, and wisdom. I’ll support you in developing tools and insight to navigate life with more confidence, clarity, and resilience.
