Great to meet you!

I am Dr. Cynthia Faulkner, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with more than 30 years of experience helping adults and older adults navigate life's challenges. In addition to my private practice, I serve as a professor of social work and author, allowing me to integrate the latest research and evidence-based practices into my clinical work.

My clinical training included extensive supervision and mentorship with a board-certified psychiatrist, providing me with a strong foundation in assessment, diagnosis, and treatment. I remain committed to lifelong learning and regularly incorporate current evidence-based interventions into my practice.

I specialize in working with adults and older adults experiencing anxiety, depression, grief and loss, life transitions, relationship concerns, trauma, stress, and substance use disorders. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and individualized. I believe that every person has unique strengths, and I work alongside my clients to help them build resilience, develop practical coping strategies, and create meaningful, lasting change.

Whether you are facing a difficult life transition, struggling with emotional or relationship challenges, or seeking recovery from addiction, I provide a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where you can feel heard, understood, and empowered to move toward your goals.

My approach to therapy

I believe that effective therapy begins with a trusting, collaborative relationship. My approach is client-centered, strengths-based, and tailored to meet your unique needs, experiences, and goals. Rather than focusing solely on problems, we will identify and build upon your existing strengths, resilience, and resources to help you create meaningful and lasting change.

Together, we will develop a treatment plan that reflects what is most important to you. Your goals will guide our work, while I provide the clinical expertise, evidence-based interventions, support, and encouragement to help you move forward. I strive to create a safe, compassionate, and nonjudgmental environment where you feel heard, respected, and empowered throughout the therapeutic process.

Because every person is different, I draw from a variety of evidence-based approaches and tailor treatment to best fit your individual circumstances, preferences, and stage of life. Therapy is a partnership, and I am committed to walking alongside you as you work toward greater well-being, resilience, and personal growth.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a trusting therapeutic relationship. We will discuss what brought you to therapy, explore your strengths, review your concerns, and identify the goals that are most important to you. This session also gives you the opportunity to ask questions and determine whether I am the right fit for your needs.

As we work together, I will draw upon more than 30 years of clinical experience, advanced training, and evidence-based practices to help you achieve your goals. Along the way, you will learn practical skills, strengthen your confidence, and develop strategies for managing life's challenges more effectively.

Therapy is a collaborative process. We will regularly review your progress, celebrate your successes, and adjust our approach as your needs evolve. My goal is to provide the support, guidance, and tools you need so that you feel empowered to continue thriving long after our work together has ended.
