Dr. Cynthia McCall-Brantley, DSW, LCSW

Dr. Cynthia McCall-Brantley is a compassionate and experienced clinician who brings warmth, wisdom, and more than 30 years of professional leadership in human services, nonprofit administration, education, and clinical social work. Her approach is trauma-informed, strengths-based, culturally responsive, and faith-informed for clients who desire that support. She believes therapy should be a safe and empowering space where individuals and families can feel heard, supported, and equipped to heal, grow, and move forward with confidence.

Dr. McCall-Brantley works with youth, adults, parents, women, girls, men, and families navigating life transitions, trauma, stress, family challenges, parenting concerns, emotional wellness, and personal growth. She has experience providing individual therapy, parent counseling and coaching, therapeutic services for youth and families, women’s and girls’ groups, men’s groups, school-based support, organizational wellness services, and in-home interventions. Her style is caring, direct, collaborative, and practical, helping clients identify their strengths while developing tools they can use in everyday life.

Dr. McCall-Brantley earned her Doctor of Social Work degree from Simmons University, her Master of Social Work in Management and Policy from Rutgers University, her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology from Rutgers University–Newark, and her Associate degree in Business Administration and Sociology from Essex County College. As the founder and executive director of ReSet & Rise Counseling and Therapeutic Services, she is deeply committed to helping individuals, families, and communities reset, rise, and thrive. Her work is grounded in clinical excellence, cultural understanding, community care, and a sincere belief in every person’s capacity for healing and transformation.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is warm, collaborative, and empowering. I believe therapy should be a safe, supportive space where clients feel heard, respected, and understood without judgment. I use a trauma-informed, strengths-based, and culturally responsive approach that helps clients recognize their existing resilience while building practical tools for healing and growth.

I work alongside clients to better understand the challenges they are facing, identify patterns that may be keeping them stuck, and develop healthier ways to cope, communicate, and move forward. My style is compassionate, honest, and solution-focused. I value meeting each person where they are, while gently encouraging growth, accountability, and self-discovery.

Because every client’s story is unique, I tailor therapy to fit the individual, family, or group I am working with. For clients who desire it, I can also incorporate faith-informed support as part of the healing process. My goal is to help clients feel more grounded, confident, and equipped to navigate life’s challenges while moving toward emotional wellness, stronger relationships, and lasting change.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, clients can expect a warm, welcoming, and judgment-free space to begin sharing their story at their own pace. I understand that starting therapy can feel uncomfortable or uncertain, so I focus on helping clients feel safe, respected, and supported from the very beginning.

During the first session, we will talk about what brought you to therapy, what you hope to gain from the process, and any challenges, concerns, or goals you would like to work on. I will also ask questions to better understand your background, strengths, support system, and current needs. We will review confidentiality, discuss what therapy may look like moving forward, and answer any questions you may have.

My goal is for clients to leave the first session feeling heard, understood, and more hopeful about the next steps. Together, we will begin creating a plan that feels realistic, supportive, and tailored to your healing and growth.
