Cynthia Metzger

I'm a seasoned clinical social worker licensed in New York and Florida who has worked with all ages. I have my Bachelor's degree from Russell Sage College Troy, New York in Sociology and Psychology. I received my Master's degree from The State University of New York at Albany with a focus on individual counseling. I've been a therapist for 16 years.

I specialize in depression, anxiety, PTSD,

obsessive compulsive disorder, addiction, panic attacks, trauma, grief and loss, geriatric issues, stress-related disorders, bipolar disorders and schizophrenia.

I work with my clients to create a relaxed, welcoming environment. My approach is client centered. I focus on the client's issues and value their input. Building trust is my goal and discussing the client's expectations in therapy.

My approach for therapy is encouragement, active listening and fostering coping skills. Solution focused, strengths and short- and long-term goals may be discussed.

A warm welcome and acknowledging how difficult it can be to take that first step to ask for help.

I will be asking a few questions to discuss your presenting problem. Asking if you've been in therapy before, physical health and any hospitalizations. If you're on any medications or have been on any in the past.

My approach is hopeful, supportive and genuine.
