Great to meet you!

Being a therapist is a passion. I bring 24 years of experience in settings as diverse as a university setting to an inpatient facility. My work has included helping chronically mentally ill and people who are going through life transitions and need the help of a professional to explore options and learn new coping skills. Regardless of the patient's level of need, I bring the same level of commitment to helping each person work toward whatever goals have brought them into therapy.

A bit about my approach to therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapies are my primary approaches however I use Gestalt, Adlerian, Solution Focused and Existential techniques and skills as indicated by client needs. Each treatment plan and therapy session is tailored to the patient's need. Homework is generally given to help patient's work toward their goals and to provide continuity between sessions. I also believe is helping clients connect with their community resources.

What you can expect from our first session

For growth to occur, clients must be willing to look at their own thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and explore what changes may be needed to create the life changes they want. I firmly believe that therapy is about healing and growth but there may be times that painful truths about self, one's past, family of origin or other issues is revealed in therapy. Clients will be at a safe place before the end of the session. Coping skills will be taught and prompted to help empower clients.
