Great to meet you!

Hello there. I'm Cynthia, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with over 26 years of experience counseling children, teens, adults, and families. I am a certified ADHD Coach, certified Anger Specialist, Behavior Specialist, teacher, and trained in UP-C/UP-A that addresses emotional disorders, anxiety and compulsions in children and youth. I have two special counseling areas: 1-children & teens with social emotional-behavioral concerns and 2-adults struggling with life transitions ( i.e. work, finances, relationships, health, etc.). Because I have worked with public and Hebrew schools, I bring a unique understanding about how teachers, administrators, and students interconnect. I am also able to use Torah values in sessions as needed. I have also taught teachers & staff how to implement Positive Behavior Support strategies and worked with IEPs, FABs, BIPs, etc. I coach parent show to use Positive Behavior Management strategies too so that they can use it at home with their children. I've worked with hospitals (oncology, cardiac, rehabilitation, etc.) and managed adult counseling programs. Hence, I use my experience, clinical skill and genuine desire to help others learn tailored strategies to help them thrive emotionally, physically, and spiritually.

My approach to therapy

I use my skills to work alongside clients as I truly value and respect where they are, where they have been and where they want to go. Every person and their circumstance is important and individualized so I use an eclectic array of counseling approaches such as Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Person-Client Centered, Solution-Goal Orientation, Mindfulness, etc. and together I work with clients to see which approach(es) best fits their needs and reach their goals.

What you can expect from me

I will listen, respect, and build rapport with you from the start. Before our first session, we will have a free consultation to discuss some of your background, needs, strengths and goals. Counseling is a journey. Sometimes it's a short trip or a long trip, but either way there is a destination, a goal, in mind. Like most trips, there's times when its smooth or has traffic but overall passengers want to bring their favorite music and snacks that help them feel safe and secure. Hence, therapy needs to be a good fit for clients and therapists and an open consultation helps to discover this. Should it move forward, an appointment is made and Headway automatically sends consent, policy, measurements, and an intake forms. During the first session, I aim to have continued open conversation by reviewing the intake form and assessments and really getting to know you or your child's experiences, challenges, strengths, and goals.
